I received a letter in the mail yesterday from my massage therapist that blows me away… I’ve been a client of Mark Dixon, NCTMB, HHP for a little over two years. He has helped me prepare for numerous races, aided in my detox program from prescription medications, helped me manage my stress – both mental and physical and has been an all around crucial member of my pit crew. With his support, I know I have reached a new level of personal achievement. Read on:
“Over the course of a 20-year career it has been my privilege and honor to treat many athletes from a large variety of sports, a population that includes many Olympic medalists and world champions. Of those, three have stood apart and above, posessed of a rare and unique quality. They are an Olympic Gold and Silver Flatwater Medalist, a Seven time Muay Thai Kickboxing Champion, and Triathlete/Ironman Athlete Michele Landry. These three athletes have a rare quality driving them, and that consists of a mixture of rock solid preparation, laser-sharp focus on their goal and persistent refusal to let up throughout training and competition, all the way to the finish line.
It could be said that their actual goal is not a gold medal. Rather, their goal is themselves: To become a better trainee, a better competitor and a better person, and I believe that it is through this process that athletes like Michele become true leaders of our society.
An apt analogy is the Eagle Badge in Scouting. The purpose, of course, is not to learn to tie a better knot, or to become a better hiker, or to read a compass, but in the process the young boys who attain the Eagle turn out to be ambassadors of dedication, perseverance and integrity. Many have gone on to become leaders in the best sense of the word, and I look to Michele to take her place upon that sort of pedestal.
Michele has become a true inspiration in my life, and she has made it more difficult for me to slack off as I go about my day. I am deeply grateful to know her.”
Mark W. Dixon, NCTMB, HHP
