Where does the time go?
These past couple weeks have been the best and most challenging training weeks to date. Last week I topped out at 29 hours. Normally, this should have been 23 hours, but I took an emergency day off the week prior for exhaustion. So this left me with 2 long rides in one week, plus my regular moderate and speed workouts. My sleep has gotten a bit squirrelly… so I’m trying to get a handle on that. I’m amazed at how decent I felt doing a transition run off a 6 hour and 7 hour bike in the same week. EK has shared some words of encouragement that help …”get after it!” In addition to that, I often replay something Edward said to me during the run at IM CDA, “Michele, you look really relaxed”. I reference this all the time when i’m out for long runs. Fake it until you make it! If i look relaxed, I can get through it. The moment I acknowledge how I really feel- i’m screwed! I just cannot let my mind go to the dark side.
I finished my volunteer orientation at Laguna Beach Animal Shelter last week. I passed the police background check (just one little hiccup from my wild child days!) and now I’m officially on the schedule. Balance is so important.
Darin finished my helmet and it is so ridiculous, off the charts, super-star bad ass! I contemplated getting an aero helmet for Kona for a while and was apprehensive. i’m kinda slow, is it dumb for me to wear one? In the end, I decided if i’m going to do it, GO BIG! So check out the photo page to see this… it rocks! The design goal of the helmet was to honor my love of the color … pink (duh!) and be girlly with a twist of super hero tough chick. Darin nailed it! Oh and p.s…. Darin just hooked up the defending World Champions aero helmet.
My bud Matty in NC just sold me a crazy pimped out Cannondale Super Six road bike. I am so fucking excited to get this! Sorry about the cursing- I just had to do it! It is so sweet! Matt is the shizz! Check it out:
