About

I started 2GenIM.com when I learned I won a lottery slot in the 2008 Ironman World Championships.  I wanted to take the opportunity to share my life-long dream of competing in the most coveted Ironman in the world through a website and blog.   I also wanted to convey my gratitude to my father, Jim Muehe.  He taught me that your body can do whatever your mind asks it to and if you can complete an Ironman, you can accomplish ANYTHING in life.

Here we are, two years later and 2GenIM (second generation Ironman) lives on.  I have not competed in another Ironman since Kona.  I suppose I am still basking in my finish on the Big Island .  My focus the past two years has been to find the balance between work, school, family, friends AND training.

I signed up for my first running race in 2003 at the age of 30.  I don’t know why it took me so long, but since then, I haven’t looked back.  The following year, I did my first triathlon and by the third one, I signed up for my first Ironman.  That same summer I competed in 6 triathlons, a half marathon and my first marathon.  I have said on many occasions, I am slow and steady and I will never qualify for the Boston Marathon.  With a few years of training and experience, I qualified for Boston and will be toeing the line on April 18, 2011.

My goals are simple… set them and you will achieve them.  As John Collins, founder of the Ironman said:

“Ironman has always been about finishing what you started.  About being able to do what you set out to do.  May be not as fast as the person in front of you, but certainly faster than the person who never started.”

Thanks for checking-out my website!
